Belgian bass-baritone Bertrand Delvaux sang as a boy in the Namur-based ensemble La Choraline. Following a degree in Physics Engineering (Space Technology), Bertrand began to pursue musical studies, first at the Conservatory in Liége with Greta de Reyghere, later in the baroque singing class of Monique Zanetti at the Conservatory of Metz and in the Conservatory of Maastricht with Frans Kokkelmans.
As a soloist, Bertrand's repertoire is widely varied. He has been heard in Britten's Death in Venice (Youth) with Opéra de la Monnaie, Purcell's The Fairy Queen (Puck: The Drunken Poet and Coridon) with Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona (Uberto) and Offensbach's La Périchole (Vice-Rol) with Brussels Operette Theater, Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia with Idée Fixe (Fiorello), Britten's Little Sweep (Black Bob) with Festival de Walonnie, Debussy's Pelleas et Mélisande (Golaud) and Prokofjev's The Gambler with Opera Zuyd, Offensbach's Les Bavards (Sarmiento) with Les Bouffles d'Europe, Hasse's Ipermestra (Danao) as well as in oratorios such as Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Bach and Keizer St. Marc Passion, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem and Krönungs-Messe, Charpentier's Messe de Minuit and Oratorio de Noël, as well as numerous cantatas by Bach, Telemann and Buxtehude. He also performed a solo recital of the music of Shostakovitch.
